§ 2-1-1. Duties of chief of police generally.

The chief of police shall direct the police work of the city, shall be responsible for the enforcement and maintenance of law and order, shall make division assignments as referred to in this chapter, shall provide for instruction and training of police officers, shall designate the hours and schedules of work of the police force, and shall supervise and instruct regarding the uniforms, appearance and conduct of police officers in the performance of their duties, whether they be uniformed officers or detectives.
