§ 3-2-17. Pedestrian obedience to pedestrian-control devices and regulations.

  • (a)

    A pedestrian shall obey the instructions of any official traffic and pedestrian-control devices, including signage, specifically applicable to him unless otherwise directed by a police officer.

    (b)

    The following will not be allowed:

    (1)

    Jumping, dangling or swinging.

    a.

    Upon any bridge or other elevated structure which transverses a river, stream, pond or other body of water;

    b.

    On any railroad tracks;

    c.

    From any city operated and maintained public dock, pier, bulkhead or fender pylon;

    d.

    From any elevated portion of the Riverwalk or any connecting structure(s).

    (c)

    At all other places, pedestrians shall be accorded the privileges and shall be subject to the restrictions stated.

    (d)

    Appropriate signage shall be posted in designated areas along the Riverwalk and Marina areas and enforced by the law enforcement agency for the City of Conway, South Carolina.

    (e)

    Any person violating the provisions of the ordinance codified in this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine of not less than $50 and not to exceed the general penalty as stated in section 1-3-48 of the City of Conway, code of ordinances.

    (f)

    The ordinance codified in this chapter shall be effective upon the date of adoption by city council.
