§ 7-3-1. Definition.

(a)

The term "taxicab" as used in this chapter is defined as and shall mean any motor propelled vehicle used for the transportation of passengers for hire; provided, however, that the term shall not apply to and shall not include motorbuses operated under ordinance or franchise issued by the city.

(b)

The term "owner" as used in this chapter shall refer to owners and managers of taxicab companies. The term "operator" refers to taxicab drivers. In this sense, the owner and operator may be one and the same person.
