§ 8-1-17. Travel/route regulations for trucks and other heavy vehicles within the corporate city limits of the City of Conway.

  • (a)

    Definitions . Trucks shall mean any vehicle designed or operated for the transportation of property. Any vehicle having more than six (6) wheels or having a gross weight of 26,000 pounds and/or a trailer having a gross weight more than 26,000 pounds.

    (b)

    Prohibitions . All vehicles defined in subsection (a) of this section, shall travel only on the following streets or portions of streets. It is a violation of this section for a truck as defined in subsection (a) of this section, to travel on any street in the City of Conway not specified in this subsection unless they meet the exceptions in subsection (c) of this section.

    U.S. Highway 905 to 4th Avenue to U.S. Highway 701 South

    U.S. Highway 378 turning onto U.S. Highway 501 Bypass

    (c)

    Exceptions . The above prohibitions shall not apply to:

    (1)

    Trucks engaged in the local delivery of products and merchandise to establishments located outside the truck route within the city limits of Conway. Such trucks making local deliveries shall upon completion of the delivery go directly to the designated truck route by the shortest route or any other route directed by the Conway police department.

    (2)

    Buses engaged in the transportation of school children and buses engaged in the transportation of persons to Sunday School or church. Buses engaged in the transportation of passengers within urban areas.

    (d)

    Penalties . The Conway City police department shall enforce all violations of this section. The penalty for violating this section shall be provided in section 1-3-48 of this code.
