§ 5-1-36. Fuel gas code.

  • (a)

    Adoption of Fuel Gas Code . This section is to be known and referred to as the Fuel Gas Code of the City of Conway. There is hereby adopted in its entirety by the City of Conway the International Fuel Gas Code, current edition, as amended, for regulating and governing fuel gas systems and gas-fired appliances as herein provided; providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of said Fuel Gas Code on file in the office of the building official as part of the general ordinances of the City of Conway are hereby referred to and adopted without the necessity of setting out and copying in its entirety the International Fuel Gas Code, current edition, as amended.

    (b)

    Amendments and revisions . As the various parts of the International Fuel Gas Code may be amended or revised from time to time by the State of South Carolina, such amendments or revisions are adopted by the City of Conway without the necessity of re-enacting or republishing the foregoing provisions of this chapter in their entirety.

    (c)

    The person in control of any gas fitting work of any kind in the city and the person qualified to pull a permit must be the holder of an unrevoked and unexpired gas fitter/plumbing/mechanical license issued by the State of South Carolina or hold a master certificate issued by the Municipal Association of South Carolina.

    (d)

    Inspection prerequisite to turning on gas . No form of flammable gas shall be turned into any gas piping system of appliance until such piping or appliance has been inspected by the building official. This inspection shall apply to all installations of consumer's gas piping and gas appliances originating at the delivery point from any gas utility piping system or at the outlet of any gas storage container.
