§ 7-4-82. Wrecker service rotation program.

  • To afford reasonable and prompt response time, it is the policy of the police department to utilize only the services of wrecker companies located within the corporate city limits of Conway that express a desire to participate and meet all requirements of the city for being placed in the wrecker rotation program. The rotation program is controlled and regulated by the chief of police through the establishment of requirements, rules, regulations, and schedule of maximum fees for services. Participation in the program is on a strictly voluntary basis. Wrecker companies applying for the right to participate in the rotation program freely and willingly subject themselves to compliance with the requirements, rules, regulations and schedule of maximum fees for services as established. The maximum fee for services by a licensed wrecker in the limits of the city shall be established by the city council.

    All wrecker(s) on the rotation list will be required to be registered within the city and subject to city taxes. The wrecker service must maintain an office within the city and a representative of the wrecker service must be physically on-site and available at the wrecker service office during normal business hours. "Normal business hours" or "business hours" as used in this regulation means at least from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and any additional hours designated and posted by the company.

    The police chief or his designee will administer the wrecker rotation program. The designee, upon approval of the chief of police, shall have the authority to suspend a wrecker company from participation in the rotation program, if it is found not to be in compliance with the requirements, rules, regulations and schedule of fees for authorized services.
